Criminal Justice Section Report 2012‐2013

All practicing lawyers in Manitoba must now report their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities to the Law Society of Manitoba on an annual basis.    For 2011, it was recommended that lawyers complete 12 hours of CPD activities.  Beginning in 2012, lawyers are now required to complete 12 hours of CPD activities, which must include 1.5 hours of Ethics, Professional Responsibility and Practice Management (EPPM).

This seminar was held to discuss the use of laptop computers, Blackberry devices and other electronics in the courtroom and how those technologies ought to be used in the context of the traditions and practices of the Provincial Court.    Panelists included Manitoba Provincial Court Chief Judge Ken Champagne, Tony Kavanagh (Manitoba Justice – Prosecutions) and Tony Cellitti (Phillips,Aiello).
