  • August 16, 2017

The Tech/IP section co-chairs participated in monthly national conference calls regarding advocacy initiatives and CBA with both the CBA Intellectual Property section and the CBA Access and Privacy section.  Co-chair John Myers attended at the national Intellectual Property meeting (IP Day).  The section hosted a session at the Mid-Winter meeting on Technology and Security Issues in Law, with attendance from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.  Submissions were made for the National Access and Privacy Section Advocacy Handbook, to the CBA Sections Transition Team, and are also being made to the provincial PHIA and FIPPA review.  Section members strongly supported the University of Manitoba students who participated in the Fox Moot, with both teams advancing to the semi-finals.  The section will be hosting its annual review of trade-marks, copyright, privacy and patents this June.
