On September 1, 2011, we met to discuss Recent Developments with Service Canada with Howard Jones, Senior Development Officer Labour Market and Social Development Programs, Service Canada, Edmonton, AB. 11 members were in attendance.
On September 28, 2011, we meet to discuss Recent Developments re: Worker Recruitment and Protection with speaker Dave Dyson, Executive Director of Employment Standards Manitoba Department of Labour, Employment Standards. There were again 11 members in attendance.
On December 6, 2011, the Section met and David Matas presented on recent developments in Federal Court caselaw. We had a small turnout of 8.
On February 6, 2011, Paul Hesse as Chair and Sofia Mirza as Vice‐Chair participated in the IRB Western Region Consultative Committee meeting in Winnipeg.
On February 14, 2012, our member Reis Pagtakhan presented to the Corporate (In House) Counsel Section on immigration due diligence. Approximately 20 CBA members attended.
On March 29, 2012, we had a joint meeting with the Criminal Justice Section on the subject of Inland Enforcement. Approximately 50 people attended, including presenters.
In May 2012, six members attended the National Immigration Law Conference hosted by the Canadian Bar Association in Kelowna, British Columbia.
