Section 24(1) of the Charter has played a leading role in many recent cases, including R v Nasogaluak and R v Jordan. However, it remains a seldom used and mysterious area of the law. Please join our panel which includes a member of the judiciary, along with experienced Crown and defense counsel to gain a broader understanding of 24(1) including its application to sentencing, delay, allegations of abuse of process, and various remedies available under s.24(1).

If you have any questions on the topic in advance, or specific areas you would like addressed by the panel, please forward them to Bryton Moen at bryton.moen@gov.mb.ca.

Please RSVP (PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED) to the Manitoba Bar Association online at www.cbapd.org.
