The MBA Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources Law Section invites you to learn about the Manitoba Clean Environment Commission (CEC). The CEC has four statutory duties:

  • provide advice and recommendations to the Minister of Environment, Climate and Parks (Minister);
  • conduct public meetings or hearings and provide advice and recommendations to the Minister;
  • conduct investigations into specific environmental concerns and report back to the Minister;
  • act as a mediator between two or more parties to an environmental dispute and report back to the Minister.

Hear from the Chair of the CEC and lawyers who have participated in past hearings about the hearing process and the role of the CEC. Gain insight into the ways legal counsel can effectively prepare to make submissions to the CEC.

Please RSVP (PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED) to the Manitoba Bar Association online at www.cbapd.org.

At approximately 9:30am on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 an email will be sent from the MBA advising you of the link that you will click on to join the Zoom video conference meeting.  So it will be important to register before 5:00pm on Monday, May 9, 2022.

Attendance at this MBA Section learning session can be applied towards your Law Society mandatory yearly continuing professional development requirement for 1.5 hours.
