TIME:     12:00 Noon – 1:30pm
LOCATION: Online - Zoom Video Conference
TOPIC:  Lawyers acting as Attorneys, Executors or Administrators in their personal capacity
SPEAKERS:
Leah Kosokowsky, Law Society of Manitoba
K. Eleanor Wiebe, Q.C., Fillmore Riley LLP

Practising in the public sector doesn’t make you immune to requests from family and friends to act under a power of attorney or a will.  Since 2017, Law Society Rule 5-49 has regulated lawyers acting in representative capacities – do you know what it says?

This session is specifically designed for public sector lawyers who act on estate matters in their personal capacity.  Eleanor Wiebe, Q.C. will describe the role of an executor and the kinds of issues that lawyers acting in that role may face, while Leah Kosokowsky will provide the Law Society's perspective on the difficulties that might arise from a professional regulation perspective.

Please RSVP (PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED) to the Manitoba Bar Association online at www.cbapd.org.

You will need a computer or laptop (PC or Mac), smartphone or tablet with a microphone and webcam (built-in or external) and an internet connection.
